GOOD SAM TEACHING GARDEN
The garden is growing again this year! Please join us for our free Gardening Series Workshops (Indigenous Practices in the Garden, Garden 2 Kitchen classes and How to Grow classes in partnership with Colorado State University). We have volunteer opportunities, additional classes and other events throughout the growing season. Click here to learn more.
COMMUNITY GARDENS
Good Sam’s Food Pantry has been the fiscal sponsor and an active partner of Common Ground Community Gardens since 2017. The demonstration garden program provides us with hundreds of pounds of fresh, organic produce every year. If you’d like a plot at one of the garden sites, you can find more information here or at the pantry.
CSA BOX PROGRAM
We are delighted to continue the WIC weekly CSA (Community-Supported Agriculture) Program. We work together with local producers and the Ute Mountain Ute WIC office to distribute boxes of fresh local and traditional food for 16 weeks during the growing season. Click here to learn more about our farmers, producers and partners. Special thanks to Nourish Colorado for funding this program.

Diné bi Ch’iyáán: NAVAJO TRADITIONAL FOODS POP-UP
Our Diné traditional foods pop-up began in 2023 at two different locations, Cortez and Dolores, and served over 200 Indigenous households in the Four Corners region. We continued the program in Cortez throughout 2024 and have already begun distribution in 2025 for households in the region as well as the Ute Mountain Ute WIC office and through the Indian Health Service in Red Mesa, AZ. Click here to learn more!
SIMPLE MEALS
We’ll be sharing cooking tips and meal ideas using ingredients from our gardens and local farms. Topics include nutrition, food as medicine, food as culture and how to make the most of the ingredients we have.
PRESERVING & PROCESSING w/Common Ground Community Gardens
Seasons of abundance can last all year with some easy processing methods. These workshops cover the basics of how and why we preserve food while we experiment with techniques so you can choose what works best for you.
A variety of traditional foods are available during the Diné bi Ch’iyáán pop-ups, sourced from Indigenous producers throughout the Four Corners and funded in part by the Colorado Food Pantry Assistance Grant.

COLLECTIVE HEALTH
Let’s work together for a just and healthy community. These gatherings have an open agenda with the goal of addressing issues that affect all of us and our quality of life. We’ll connect our efforts to improve operations at Good Sam’s, expand opportunities and increase member involvement when applicable. We are learning how to lead ourselves to health, autonomy and collective care. Childcare is available.
